Today the demand of the Indian e-commerce sites is increasing very significantly. Tendency of online shopping among the Indians has also increased with the increase of Smartphone and desktop usage in India. For that, the competition to capture the Indian e-commerce market among the world’s leading e-commerce company is clearly noticeable.

But, the main noticeable fact in the Indian eCommerce market is that- behavior of the Indian online shoppers. The demands of the Indian shoppers are quite different from any other country in the world. In India, a person always looking for a cheaper rate and that is why almost one third of the total sale is made on the sales season (spring-summer) in India (as India is a country of festival).
Not only offline market it also affects the eCommerce sector. Most of people are using Coupon Code to get a flat discount on a product OR they are just simply going to the sales/discount section to purchase online.
Again, a majority of Indian shoppers is looking for branded features at a low price. Quality is not so important to them. Exactly for that, China products are too much popular among the lower middle class people in India. We shouldn’t forget that two third of the total population of India are belongs to the middle class and lower middle class family and the have started using smart phones recently.
Now, one thing is clear that- to get success in the Indian eCommerce market, online retailers should introduce cheaper products along with branded products that Indians can compare easily while they’re shopping online.
Understanding the Indian Shoppers:
Although India belongs to one of the fastest progressive country still then two third of the total population are belongs to the poor and middle class family (as mentioned earlier). They need to spend carefully to maintain their lifestyle from their fixed income. They really doesn’t afford a branded product like Puma, Nike, Apple, etc. so, they have to go for a cheaper product which has almost the same facilities like a brand.

- Nearly 60% of Indian has visited online shopping sites in the year 2011 and it’s increasing.
- 16.5 % of Indian has visited Deal or Coupon sites.
Now it’s clearly seen that Indians are loved to buy cheaper products from e-stores.
So, my advice is to consider these things before launching eCommerce business in India.
