In today’s world, a housewife already has some options to utilise those talents to work online for cash and build a career. There are plenty of work-from-home job options available, which are super flexible, legitimate and relevant to housewives.

In this post, we will explore some real work-from-home jobs you can apply for as a housewife and even a few creative opportunities you can start on your own.

# 1 Sell Handmade Stuff You Already Making:

As a housewife or a Mom, you already make so many stuff like woollen sweaters for family members, art crafts for your kids’ school projects, home decorative items like wall hangings and many more.

You may wander that those items are also in high demand on both the online and offline marketplace. There are many authentic online platforms where you can sell your homemade craft online. You can also sell them directly in your local market.

Here, I’ve made a list of probable crafts and food items that you can easily sell online.

Crafts & Handmade Items

  • Knitted scarves, hats, sweaters,
  • Quilts, cushion covers, and wall decors.
  • Handmade candles.

Food & Eatable Items

  • Homemade pickles & jams.
  • Cookies, cakes, bread.
  • Chocolates, candies, dry snacks.
  • Spice mixes or traditional sauces

In many countries, you can’t sell food items without having a licence. Therefore, always check whether your country permits the sale of homemade food to the public or not.

In India, it’s mandatory to have a Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) license to sell homemade food online.

This section is also known by different names in various countries. In India, it’s called Amazon Karigar; in the USA, it’s known as Amazon Handmade, and so on.
  • eBay — For crafts, collectables, and some homemade goods.
  • Shopify — Create your own online store.
  • Facebook Marketplace — Good for local buyers.
  • Instagram Shop — Great for visual products.
  • For Homemade Food, you can use food delivery apps like Uber Eats or your locally available delivery apps.

Selling Offline:

You don’t need to rent any physical store initially. First, research your local market and discuss selling your products in their shops with existing sellers by splitting the profit.

Once your products gain demand, then you can consider renting a shop.

# 3 Create Your Own YouTube Channel: 

YouTube can also be a great choice for creating a digital career for stay-at-home moms or housewives. You just need to have patience and the ability to consistently deliver helpful videos to your audience.

To do that, you don’t really need any fancy gear, such as mirrorless cameras, studio-quality microphones, or professional video editing knowledge. Your mobile phone is sufficient for recording and editing videos for your channel. The only important thing is to record something valuable for your audience.

Becoming a child tutor is also a great way to earn money from home, especially for housewives. You don’t need any fancy degrees to get started. If you have patience and good communication skills with children and parents, this profession is for you.

You can use a quiet corner of your house with tables, chairs and basic study materials. Make the place safe and welcoming for kids.

Your main challenge would be finding the first student. But you can overcome the challenge by talking to your neighbours, friends and family. You can also use local WhatsApp or Facebook groups where parents are looking for tutors.

Not only that, but you can also set up your class online using platforms like WhatsApp, Google Meet, Zoom, etc.

#4 Do an Online Job: 

If you want to earn money by utilising your previous professional skills online, then you can join a platform like Fiverr, Freelancer, Upwork, etc. Here, you can find remote jobs such as virtual Assistant, Video Editing, Data Entry, and Content Writing, among others.

It’s true that you can get online jobs without experience, but it needs time to build a strong portfolio. And, without a strong portfolio, you can’t gate jobs that allow you to make serious money.

Conclusion: Working from home is not only providing financial support to housewives but also giving them the opportunity to utilise their natural skills and creativity to contribute directly to the world economy.

But, I personally don’t recommend online jobs for housewives because working for clients means you’re bound by strict deadlines and time limits. As a housewife, you already have many responsibilities, so you may not always be able to deliver work exactly on time.

You need a job that allows you to work whenever you want without a strict time limit.
